DUCHAMP @ A GLANCE

WHEN DID YOU START PLAYING THE FLUTE?    As child I has strong interest in the flute and I decided to be a flutist when I was 3 years old! My parents were afraid! I think the sound of Jean Pierre Rampal I heard at home on my parents CD went in my heart and it never went out. I started when I was 11 years old.

MOST INSPIRING COMPOSERS: J.S BACH is my god. Mozart for Opera overtures, Brahms for my romantic “heart system”, R. Strauss.

WHO WERE YOUR MOST IMPORTANT MENTORS?  My flute teachers: Stephane Boudot, my first teacher in Bordeaux, Maurice Pruvot, Catherine Cantin, Georges Alirol, Robert Thuillier and  Maxence Larrieu. Jean Pierre Rampal, Michel Debost and Jean Ferandis helped me a lot also.

WHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT YOUR INSTRUMENT? Palette of colors and naturality.

WHAT IS THE MOST DIFFICULT ASPECT OF THE FLUTE?  Everythings ! To perform on a high level

MOST MEMORABLE MOMENTS WITH THE ORCHESTRA AND SOLOIST: Malher Symphonie N°6 with Georges Pretre and Carnegie Hall  concert in New York on the Philippe Gaubert flute in front of his familly was really emotional...

WHAT DO YOU LIKE TO DO OUTSIDE OF WORK? Be with my two children Capucine and Leonard, walk in New York City and Paris, go to the restaurant with friends and discover good wine.

WHAT IS YOUR INTERREST IN LIFE? Philosophy, Theology, Pedagogy, Sociology
